Christmas in Berthoud 2009
Volunteer To Help
Call Bronya Wilcken at 215-4756 or e-mail bronya@teamplr.com to see where your talents and resources can be utilized.
In order for Christmas in Berthoud to be a success, we need ALL of the community to get involved. Ask your group/organization for ideas on how you can contribute. The goal of all of the events throughout November and December is to raise money to go to the Christmas in Berthoud 2009 Fund.
Businesses should consider being open Friday, December 4th from 4:00-9:00pm and Saturday, December 5th from 9:00am-8:00pm as well as running holiday promotions to attract customers during the weekend event and the following 12 Days of Christmas.
If you would like your event publicized and listed on the Christmas in Berthoud 2009 Events Calendar, please call Jen Rotar at 532-4320 or e-mail jen@websitesbyjen.com.
Here are some great ideas that your business could do to help families in need:
- Restaurants could offer breakfast/lunch/dinner to the attendees, and donate a portion of your proceeds back to the Fund. Let us know what menu items you'd like to highlight. We could have several restaurants offering different types of food selections.
- Chili Cook Off or Spaghetti Dinner - Any club/organization can put together a friendly competition or a dinner.
- Businesses could bring in Mrs. Claus to serve hot cider while customers are shopping. Percentage of business sales over the weekend could be donated or could offer promotions on specific merchandise. The Girl Scouts could come into your businesses and sell baked items. Draw customers in by collecting canned food items.
- Churches could host classes, cookie exchanges, luncheons, fashion shows, concerts, etc. with a goal of donating a part of the proceeds back to the Fund.
- "Change for a Change" - We already have coin cans that Don Dana will be distributing to local businesses that can sit by cash registers. If your business or group would like to help collect change, let Don know and he will help you get involved. Organizers will collect the cans around December 15th.
- Canned Food Drive - Canned food items for local food banks could also drop off basket-making supplies to create food baskets for families for their Christmas dinner (no perishable items).
- Scarf, Hat and Mitten Drive - Collect new or lightly used items are donated.
- Coat and Winter Boot Collection - Collect new or lightly used items are donated. House of Neighborly Services desperately needs men's work boots.
- House of Neighborly Services - Has listing of specific needs during the holidays. Business could work in conjunction with them in developing new idea/theme for their donation.
- Nutcracker or Christmas Show/Concert - Organizations like Berthoud Dance Company could develop a show during the weekend with proceeds would go to the Fund.
- Bake Sale - Local church or business could host this event with proceeds going to the Fund.
